Graffiti in Wangsa Maju in response to DBKL

2
I'm sure many of us would know about the recent DBKL's demolishing of permanent structures for hawkers in Desa Setapak, Wangsa Maju. All the corner end-lot areas of Wangsa Maju no longer house all the hawker stalls, which led to the outrage of the citizens there. This would lead to the food starvation issue among TAR College and UTAR students who stay near that area. I would have given my due respect as the food stalls there open almost 24/7, unlike the Cheras area which I'm staying in the hostel which have hawker stalls which work at proper meal hours only.

Plus, I must praise the Wangsa Maju Hawkers for their efficiency in preparing their meals, making them on par with fast food's speed. Of course, I have to endure the slow speed in Cheras hawkers who work as if the world revolves around them and time will wait for them.

As I wasn't around in Wangsa Maju when the demolishing happen, what I had managed to witness was the graffitti response to the DBKL's action recently. Below are the creative art that I'm sure many would appreciate and agree with.

A hawker continuing business there, in fron of the words I "Love" DBKL.

Kenny Sia: Top 50 Illegible Bachelor

I admit, I'm not a big fan of CLEO. Being a male who proudly proclaim that I ain't metrosexual, I love being just.. a typical male. I have a typical dislike for men who read CLEO, not because they read CLEO, but they rather had a kinky personality. But then again, that doesn't mean I hate them either. Let's just say, they are always been labeled as weird.(Not by me though) X'P

Enter this: A few months back, I happen to bump into a blog mentioning of CLEO's 50 most eligible bachelor. I admit, Malaysian men are not really attractive in looks, so the thought of participating in CLEO's 50 most eligible bachelor did cross my mind. Just a glimpse of hope. Ok, I admit, 2 glimpse, 5 minutes apart. There are few of my seniors in med school had enter it, so why not me?

Fast forward to the not so present. In the Langkawi trip, I saw my course mates(girls, of course) holding the latest CLEO magazine. Lots of Oooh's and Ahh's, until came the EWGHHH's. Being a concerned citizen(busybody) that I had always been, I took a peek and guess what I saw?

Bachelor no 46!!!

KENNY SIA!!

Of course, the responses I'd heard so far were:
A: Aiya, so fat also can get top 50 ah? Definitely no more better bachelors in Malaysia.
B: He should stay in blogging, that would be better.
C: Aiyo, CLEO quality so bad wan.. no longer trustworthy.
D: Like that sad la, guy like him also can get in.

Okay, I admit. He's really funny when he blogs. (Although he's not as good as when he started blogging, quoted by my friend. I was still with my diapers when he started blogging, so I don't know the difference. To me, he's just good) But then again, wouldn't it be weird to name him as the top 50 eligible bachelor? Wait, or was it illegible bachelor? Everyone gave that amused look when he was in CLEO top 50.

Perhaps it was the sense of humor that got him up there. Maybe CLEO had become not that superficial anymore. And maybe the sun rises from the west. To me, CLEO has been a synonym for superficial looks magazine. Kenny Sia deserves a much better magaine than that, being the Mr Nice Guy and his wry sense of humor. He's definitely eligible, but not in a place of superficial looks. Try somewhere else.

And the somewhere is definitely not going to be Harakah. Why? Look below.

The top 50 CLEO's eligible bachelor's hobby wouldn't sit well in Harakah. X'P

Update: Responses from other blogs that I've seen

1. Fat Walking Contradiction
Introducing Mr. Funny and Sarcastic who he can say whatever he wants and still some people out there will think he is right to say those dumb things.
On top of that, now he is undeservingly in the CLEO's 50 most eligible bachelor and there are many who has already voted for him for 5 categories. Honestly, I don't think they took their time to screen through all the other 49 contestants and judge for themselves but just vote because he is MR. SIA.

2. “Is Kenny Sia Really An Eligible Bachelor?”
In his usual humorous self and in this post, he started off by telling us all how there are plenty of pretty boys in Cleo’s Top 50 Eligible Bachelors. And then ended with a bang by the fact that he was in the list. Kudos. I think he truly deserve to be on the list. Why? He is a celebrity, got money, single and reading his blog, I think a fun person.

Comments from Bookmaker:
The standard in the Malaysian “Cleo’s 50 Most Eligible Bachelors” is so low it’s embarrassing. Try comparing it with Cleo in other countries where the finalists are chosen because they are already well-known and DON’T HAVE TO APPLY. A few of my friends in KL have applied in the past by filling out the form and they made it.

3. Eligible Photoshopped Bachelors
Wait a minute, let’s just assume that you’re a loyal CLEO reader. Did you notice that the eligible bachelors are getting worse by year? What happened? Is it that guys nowadays are getting uglier and uglier? Or the handsome ones simply failed to be nominated? It’s pretty crap. This year, none of them appeals to me at all. In fact, I should say it’s rather disappointing. To think that the other day, I was so excited to get a copy of CLEO in Puduraya, even with my heavy luggage, shopping bags and all. But as I sat down and browsed through the mag, I let out an intense sigh, meanwhile frowned so hard that I thought my eyebrows would never be separated again. Look, even my dad is better looking!
