Temptations & Ambitions

Finally, the first posting is coming to an end. One foot out of the door. I can't really rejoice, due to the anticipation of a much grueling posting in 2 weeks time. At least, I did enjoy my time in Surgery posting right? So, the last week is more like a stroll in the park. Can't wait for the holidays to come! n_n

This week is my "Vascular" week. However, we didn't adhere to the schedule anymore. Went to Minimally Invasive Clinic today since I missed out on it last Monday. Basically, it's just some general surgery which involves small matters. Well, this of course includes cases like hernia, sweaty palms (yes, we can do surgery to cure sweaty palms, provided if it's not due to underlying disease), or pus in the neck. Any minor surgery from any field will be classified as MIS, which in other words, just means "Rojak."

Even the doctors were from different teams, such as ENB, Colorectal, Hepatobiliary, etc. Today, the doctors were mainly from ENB (Endocrine and Breast) team, so it looked more like an ENB day to me. Seeing new patients does not excite me anymore, for they are just any other patients that you see everyday.

Being myself, my thoughts wandered off in no time while observing the doctors doing their duty. After 7 weeks, I finally realised that there are artwork in the clinic. To name a few would be hard, since a picture is worth a thousand words. So, I shall show you tow of the funny ways a clinic can be decorated. Who says doctors are not artistic eh? -.-"


Look carefully. The red ribbon at the center can't be missed, but the two urinary catheters tied in a knot to hang along with the ribbon decoration? Ewgh... For those non-medical readers, a urinary catheter is a tube inserted into your urine passage up to the bladder to drain your urine in conditions where you can't pee. Yeap, that's it. Perhaps they clean it, then they reused it for artistry. It could quite make it to the recycling theme.


Ever thought of missing your tape cos you leave them everywhere? No worries. Do it this way and you won't miss them. Plus, they make decent decorations on the wall!

People say that surgery posting is the easiest, but I really beg to differ. Every posting could be just as hard. In some Unis, surgery is the posting of nightmare. Perhaps it's up to the individual to decide themselves. Though all I can say is that in my Uni, Surgery posting has the most "free
time" for us to do things on our own. Well, it's up to you to study, or to play around like me, happily blogging and could end up in disaster by the end of the semester. :P
